ROCHESTER - George "Woody" Woodill, 79, residing at 44 Ten Rod Road, died Thursday, March 7, 2019 at home after a brief illness. He was born June 28, 1939 in Worcester, Mass., the son of Leland and Beatrice (Beliveau) Woodill. He had resided in Rochester since 1946 coming from Spencer, Mass.
Woody was very active in Rochester sports umpiring for high school for 17 years and the American Babe Ruth Little League. He coached midget football, girls rec basketball and grammar school rec basketball. He was a member of the Roger Allen Rec Association and treasurer for 37 years.
Woody worked as a lineman for Verizon for 28 years before he retired.
Members of his family include his wife of 41 years, Diane (Gauthier) Woodill; sons, Roland, Rodney, Christopher Woodill; daughters, Dawna (Mike) Lambert, Sharyn (Bill) Newton; stepchildren, Thomas (Denise) Poulin, Karen (friend Darrell) Poulin; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Roland (Diane) Woodill; and several nieces and nephews.
