ROCHESTER - Gerard "Pete" Lacroix, 88, formerly of 5 French Hussey Road, died Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the Gafney Home after a brief period of failing health. He was born in Rochester on August 11, 1930, the son of the late Rose (Jacques) and Pierre Lacroix.
Pete proudly served in the Army from 1951-1953. He worked as a pipefitter inspector for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement. Pete was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge #1393 and the VFW and American Legion post#7. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, and was an avid sports fan.
The widower of Bernice (Evans)Lacroix, he is survived by his daughter, Carol Jasinski and husband, Ric of Wolfeboro, granddaughter Lisa Amero Weir and husband Patrick, of North Attleboro, Mass., along with their children Izzy and Parker; brother in-law, Cider Berry and wife Marilyn of Rochester. He was predeceased by his son, Glen Lacroix, grandson, Adam Lacroix, and great-grandson, Brandon Luise.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Gafney Home for their loving care of Pete. He frequently gave them a hard time-most of the time with a smile-about the temperature of his food, ice cream, and whatever else he could come up with that day and they managed to laugh about it with him.
