ROCHESTER - Give 'em the old razzle dazzle at "Chicago" the musical on the Rochester Opera House stage Thursday, January 14 through Sunday, January 31. Set in 1920s Chicago and based on real-life murders and trials, "Chicago" is a dazzling and satirical look at fame, justice, and the media machine.

Roxie Hart (Linette Miles), a wannabe vaudevillian star, is arrested for murdering her lover, despite attempts to convince her pushover husband, Amos (James Weeden), to lie for her. While awaiting trial in the Cook County Jail, Roxie meets her hero, the famed double-murderess and nightclub performer Velma Kelly (Seraphina Caligiure). When both acquire the same lawyer, the greedy and lustful superstar, Billy Flynn (Rob Scullin), tensions come to a head as they vie for the spotlight - though instead of onstage - they are mugging for the flashbulb of the newspaper reporters.

"Chicago" the musical is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. The original 1975 production was nominated for ten TONY Awards including Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score, with the revival winning six TONY Awards in 1997.

With a funny, intelligent, and utterly engaging story, one show-stopping song after another, and all ...that... jazz, Chicago is a musical spectacular that is as addictive as gossip rags and as unforgettable as any trial of the century.

An ROH Production directed by Stephen Small and featuring a live on-stage band with music direction by Kathy Fink, "Chicago" is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French.
