ROCHESTER - Glorine V. Gisis, 91, died on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at the Rochester Manor after a lengthy illness, listening to Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra.
Born June 18, 1927, in Gonic, she was the youngest child of Gedeon and Emilienne (Gagnon) LaPierre. Growing up with five brothers and a sister during the depression and also losing her father in 1934, she learned at an early age the importance of family and getting by with less.
She loved music and was an avid reader. Her favorite books were anything to do with FDR or the Bible. She was a Communicant of St. Mary's Church in Rochester, and there's no doubt her faith helped her deal with all the tough moments in her life.
She was an extremely selfless person always putting others first. When she lived and worked in Concord, she would travel home every weekend to help her mother. And when her husband, John, was stricken with ALS, she tirelessly cared for him for eight years.
Glorine worked at Palmer Plumbing Supply in Rochester, and later became the first female dispatcher for the NH State Police.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Lombardo and infant son, Jay Lombardo, second husband, John N. Gisis, Sr., their son, Peter J. Gisis and her siblings and their spouses.
She is survived by her son, John N. Gisis, Jr. and his wife, Linda; two grandchildren, Stephanie Gisis, Nicholas Gisis and his wife, Kelsie, great-grandson, John; and several nieces and nephews.
