ROCHESTER - Residents of Gonic and the East Side will once again face off in a friendly softball game next month.

The game will be played on Aug. 12, when residents of Gonic - Wards 2, 3 and 4 - will take on residents from Rochester's East Side - Wards 1, 5 and 6 - in the ninth installment of the revived crosstown rivalry.

The game will be played at 10 a.m. at Riverside Park on Old Dover Road behind the Department of Public Works.

The game is coed and open to residents aged 12-99, and everyone who comes will have a chance to play. Residents who would like to play in the game may sign up online by clicking here.

They may also reach out to their respective ward's managers directly by calling Gonic Manager Pete Lachapelle at 603-396-9602 or East Side manager Dan Levesque at 603-767-5078.

"This is a fantastic community tradition that is always a lot of fun for residents of all ages and ability levels," City Manager Blaine Cox said. "It's also a great way to meet your neighbors, and I hope everyone sets aside some time to play."

Residents should plan to bring their own softball gloves, though some equipment like bats and balls will be provided.
