DOVER - Gordon Drake, 85, of Dover, died on Thursday, Jan.14, 2021, in Rochester, with his beloved wife, Eileen at his side. He was a very kind loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Gordon was born in Moose River, Maine, on Oct. 12, 1935, to Clifford and Beatrice Drake. He lived and attended school in Stratton, Maine, graduating from Stratton High School. He married Sara Eileen Copp from Rangeley, Maine, in 1957. They were happily married for 63+ years and were rarely seen apart. He was a member of Bigelow Lodge. Together they had one daughter, Dawn Eileen and one grandson, Christopher Gordon. Gordon did carpentry and factory work while living in the Rangeley Stratton area. Gordon and Eileen settled in Dover, where he was a mechanic for many years and a security guard just before totally retiring.
He was an avid bowler, golfer, cribbage player, and pool player. He made many friends with his infectious smile and his kind compassionate spirit. Gordon, Eileen, and Family belonged to and loved their First Parish Church in Dover where he served as usher, deacon, and many other duties.
Gordon was predeceased in death by his parents, his daughter, Dawn, his brother, Clifford, and his sister, Glana.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen of Phillips, Maine, and his grandson, Christopher of Manchester. He was loved by all family members and friends and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
