Gun threat at Somersworth High puts district schools in brief lockdown

SOMERSWORTH - A threat called in by phone to "shoot up the school" forced a lockdown at the town's high school on Monday.

The phone call came in at 10:43 a.m., according to Somersworth Police, who worked with the school district to ensure all town schools joined in the lockdown.

After searches to the high school, surrounding neighborhoods and wooded areas, all schools were put back online.

Police say the source of the phone call was identified, and there is no "actionable threat" to the school.

The case remains under investigation.
