LEBANON - A Sanford man was arrested on Tuesday after police say he threatened neighbors during a confrontation on Mousam Street.

Officers were first dispatched to the area after a caller reported there was a man threatening to shoot people with a firearm.

Information indicated the suspect had walked out of a residence with the weapon and engaged in a verbal confrontation with neighbors during which time the threats were made.

The suspect then re-entered the residence at the beckoning of another male. Witnesses said the male discharged the firearm prior to entering the residence.

A police tactical vehicle was brought to the scene as a contingency to assist in the evacuation of neighboring residents in the event the situation escalated, as well as to provide officers a safe approach to the residence if necessary.

The occupants of the residence in question emerged from the house about 45 minutes after police arrived, and the suspect was taken into custody.

A firearm was recovered from the residence.

Bruce Hunter, 53, of 10 Mousam St., was charged with terrorizing.

No injuries were reported.
