STRAFFORD - Gwendoline M. Wilson died at home on Monday, October 17, 2016, in Strafford, New Hampshire, due to complications from Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. She was 79.
Gwen was born May 27, 1937, at Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, England. She married Airman Eugene Rowland in 1955. As a military spouse, she traveled throughout the US. She married Melvin Watts in 1972. Continuing his long military service, she accompanied him to Europe, Alaska and in 1983 retired with him to Strafford, N.H. In widowhood, Gwen found love again in 2005, marrying Frank Wilson, and happily spent her last years in blessed companionship, living and traveling with Frank.
Gwen Wilson was an executive secretary, credit union manager, and expert seamstress during her working years. Gwen's passion for gardening was legendary. As the Co-Founder of Strafford's Garden Club, her plantings continue to assure a legacy of beauty for everyone. She was Strafford Citizen of the Year in 1993.
Gwen Wilson is survived by her husband, Frank S. Wilson, her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Sam Hartmann of Strafford, N.H., her daughter, Christina Rowland of Rochester, N.H., her step-sons, Wayne Watts, Wiesbaden, Germany, John Watts, Manchester, N.H., and step-daughter, Tina Lequin, Granby, Mass., and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
