ROCHESTER - Rochester Main Street has been selected as a beneficiary of the "Hannaford Helps" reusable bag program for May.

The program is designed to support local nonprofits like Rochester Main Street. For every blue "Hannaford Helps" reusable bag with the good karma messaging purchased at the 26 Lilac Mall Rochester Main Street volunteers will receive a $1 donation in order to help fulfill its mission of downtown promotion.

"We are very excited to be able to participate in this program as an extension of our Rochester Pride/Earth Day/Downtown Cleanup," said Rochester Main Street Executive Director Michael Provost.

Rochester Main Street has a goal of raising $2,000 during May as a beneficiary of the program, which is equivalent to 2,000 bags bought in support of the cause. Rochester Main Street plans to use the projected funds to assist in securing a permanent public art installation in the heart of downtown.
