SCARBOROUGH, MAINE - Hannaford Supermarkets on Tuesday announced the recall of some store-brand ground beef products including additional products due to possible E. coli contamination.
The products were sold in stores throughout New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.
On Monday, the grocery store chain recalled its store brand 85 percent ground beef products, including small and family packs, with sell-by dates of April 6 through April 18 at select locations.
The recall followed a public health alert issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service for ground beef produced by Greater Omaha Packing Co.
On Tuesday, Hannaford Supermarkets expanded its recall "out of an abundance of caution" to include store brand 80 percent ground beef small and family packs with sell-by dates of April 6 through April 18.
Customers are asked to check storage and freezer areas for the products included in the recall and to not consume the product. Hannaford said the products or their packaging may be returned for a full refund.
No injuries or sickness has been reported, according to Hannaford officials.
