High wind advisory says peak gusts overnight could be as high as 50 mph

A wind advisory forecasting up to 50 mph gusts is in effect for all of the Greater Rochester region beginning this afternoon and continuing into the early morning hours Tuesday.

The winds will be out of the south steady at 15-30 mph

The forecast includes area of southwest Maine and central to southern New Hampshire.

Winds of around 50 mph can easily bring down large limbs and even some trees, resulting in sporadic power outages.

The soaking rains and snowmelt expected today can also lead to trees toppling.

In addition a flood watch is in effect till Tuesday.

Meanwhile, temps will rise throughout the day with a high in the upper 50s this afternoon and closer to 60 around midnight, according to Accuweather.
