Yaki udon with chicken and all the Asian fixins' (Rochester Voice photo)

ROCHESTER - With its attractive, clean lines décor, attentive service and unique culinary style, Hong Asian Noodle Bar in the heart of downtown Rochester is fast becoming a staple of noontime lunches and evening dinners.
The eatery began its tenure in Dover several years ago and opened its Rochester location earlier this spring.
The restaurant serves up authentic Asian fare, including a Japanese dish called Yaki udon, which features thick wheat noodles cooked up in a stir-fry with savory sauce.
I got the Yaki udon with chicken, a delightful dish with potato noodles (substituted since I am gluten sensitive) garnered with with Korean cabbage, bean sprouts, onions, snow peas, carrots, mushrooms and scallions.
The savory sauce was something unlike I'd ever had and beckoned another bite after bite.
The serving size was generous as you can see in the picture, and the service was darn near impeccable.
I also liked that they had sturdy biodegradable doggie bowls and plates instead of the usual plastic you find at more restaurants.
Another first during my recent lunch was the milk tea, which basically tastes like a healthy vanilla shake, or frappe, as we used to call it. Simply delicious.
I would heartily recommend giving the Hong Asian Noodle Bar a try.
My Yoki Udon was just $14.
