Hunter Jon Fortin Cordaro ... avid go kart racer; at 19

LEBANON, Maine - Hunter Jon Fortin Cordaro, 19, of Blue Rose Lane, died tragically in a motor vehicle accident in North Berwick on March 4, 2022.

Hunter was born on March 30, 2002 in Dover, N.H.; the son of Justin Cordaro and Dawn Fortin. Surrounded by family and close friends, Hunter was born into so much love, something that would always be important to him. As a young child, he had many interests and was lucky enough to have so many loved ones to help him explore those passions. Papa John, Grammy Barb, Papa Art and Grammy Robin brought him on countless outings, trips and adventures. His aunties, Kerry and Lisa, were forever wrapped around his little finger. Through them, Hunter met Uncle Rob (a.k.a. Barney) and Uncle Richard. He was fortunate enough to even have special time with his Great Grammy Junie, Great Andy and Great Grammy Pickard. He was fortunate to have many more aunts, uncles, cousins, friends. By the time he was almost four, he finally got his brother and best little buddy that he had always wanted, Jaxon. Anyone who saw them, especially in those early years, knew Hunter took his role very seriously, there wasn't a sideline or a finish line that Hunter wouldn't be found cheering him on, Jaxon was his pride and joy.

Hunter was very genuine, kind and helpful to everyone. He wanted to make people happy and take care of others. His light will shine on all those who knew and loved him.

Over the years Hunter was involved in many community sports and activities; Baseball, Soccer, Wrestling, Football, Plays, Chorus, Band, Adventure/Day Camp. He was always willing to lend a helping hand at community and sports functions. As soon as he could drive a tractor, he was able to start helping his grandfather every spring with the Babe Ruth field.

Through exploring all his interests, much like his Papa John, he fell in love with Racing. He got his first go kart before he turned 9 months old. He came from a family that loved racing on both sides so it came pretty naturally to him. He was barely a toddler when he was already in the garage working on his Uncle Lewis' race car learning to turn a wrench with Papa John in his Velcro Thomas the Train sneakers. That grew into bigger engines, bigger go karts, and eventually a race car of his own. He grew into a dependable pit crew for his uncle. He eventually bought his first racing go kart from Charlie and Diana, they became a special part of his life supporting him throughout all his years he's been racing. His Uncle Don was also a major supporter in all his racing.

Hunter was a 2020 graduate of Noble High School in North Berwick, where during his senior year he got to become a part of Multiple Pathways and much to his surprise developed a special friendship with his teacher Ben. He also attended Sanford Regional Technical Center where he completed the Electrical Wiring Program. After high school he attended SMCC for electrical engineering and had been working as an electrician apprentice.

Hunter was predeceased by his grandfather Daniel Cordaro, his great grandparents Andy and June Anderson, His great grandmother Helen Pickard, and Uncle Rob McClard.

Surviving are his mother, Dawn Fortin and step-dad, Michael Smith of Lebanon; father Justin Cordaro and step-mother Amber Cordaro of Gonic, N.H.; brother Jaxon Cordaro of Lebanon; step-sister, Hailey Smith of Lebanon; grandparents, John and Barbara Fortin of Lebanon; Robin and Arthur MacPherson of Rochester, N.H.; his aunt Kerry Fortin of Laconia, N.H.; his aunt and uncle Lisa and Richard Gelinas of New Durham, N.H.; his best friend Connor Fecteau of North Berwick; his girlfriend Sarah Patterson of Dover; many aunts, uncles cousins and numerous friends.

Funeral services were held March 11, 2022 in North Berwick, ME. Hunter will be laid to rest in the Rochester Cemetery on Saturday, May 7 at 1pm.
