Inmate found dead in jail was federal prisoner

DOVER, N.H. - The inmate found dead in his Strafford County jail cell on Tuesday was a federal inmate, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Concord.

Reno Joseph Demesmin, 28, was found dead in his cell around 1:40 p.m. Demesmin had been at the jail for 16 weeks.

Results of an autopsy Wednesday may not be immediately released, officials said.

On Tuesday the Strafford County Sheriff's Office began its investigation, also requesting assistance of the Dover Police Department's forensics team to assist at the scene.

The man's death was not considered suspicious, according to the Sheriff's Office.
