James "Jim" L. Kidney Sr., 88, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at Rochester Manor. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 8, 1935 in Dover, James was the son of James P. and Helen T. (Brierley) Kidney. Following his graduation from Dover High School in 1953, Jim married Hazel (Frost) Kidney, and they went on to have four children. Jim went on to hold a job as a supervisor and setup man for General Electric for many years before his retirement in August 1990.

When away from work, Jim could often be found outdoors. From fishing and hunting to golfing and skiing, Jim wasn't afraid to try anything. His social personality led him to join several different groups including the Senior Golf League that led him around the state and organizations such as the Dover Elks and Dover Moose Lodge.

Most importantly though, Jim was a family man. Most things he did was in the company of his family, especially his Friday evening Happy Hours.

Along with his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his sister, Marcia A. Kidney.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 69 years, Hazel Kidney; his children, Jim Kidney, Jr. and wife, Pam of Berwick ME, Doug Kidney of Seabrook, Cheryl Boudreau and husband, David, of North Waterboro ME; and Kathy Lessard and husband, Robert, of Dover; grandchildren, Jill, Annamarie, Seamus, Kristina, Holly, Ceili, and Jon; and 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.
