ROCHESTER - James W. Bowden, 77, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 8, 2021 at home. Jim was born on January 21, 1943 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital to Pearl and Hazel Bowden.
Raised in West Lebanon, Maine, he attended grade school at Lebanon Elementary and graduated from Spaulding High School, class of 1961.
He was employed by Hannaford Bros. Co. retiring in December, 2007. He also sat on the Board of Directors of Hannaford Federal Credit Union for many years. He held numerous positions during his career, but enjoyed interacting with his customers and employees most of all.
Upon retiring, he and wife Sandy began spending their winters in Englewood, Fla. Eventually they purchased a home in Lemon Bay Isles and enjoyed the many friends they met there, and the Edgewater Club activities. Jim was an avid car fanatic, gardener, and all-around-handyman.
Jim leaves behind his devoted wife of 57 years, Sandra (Roulx); daughter, Bonnie Bowden; son, James M. Bowden, Sr., and wife Dianna; son, Michael A. Bowden and wife Cheryl; his brother, William Bowden and wife Sonia; sister Sandra (Bowden) DiPrizio and husband Charles; his brother-in-law James Eaton; his sister-in-Law, Shirley (Roulx) Smith and husband Robert.
He also leaves his amazing grandchildren, Cody Bowden and companion, Christina; James M. Bowden Jr., Abigail Bowden Miller, and his bonus grandchildren, Lee MacDonald, Chantel Klardie, and Angelina MacDonald, as well as 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Shirley (Bowden) Eaton.
