BRINY BREEZES, Fla. - Jane F Hebert, born September 08, 1934 formerly of Somersworth, NH passed away at the age of 90, on February 11th, 2025 in her Briny Breezes, FL home.
Jane was the daughter to George and Emma (Mansour) Nadeau. Jane was a graduate of Spaulding High School (1952) and then earned her degree of Registered Nurse from Sacred Heart Nursing School. In 1975 she then earned a degree from New England College in Sociology and Psychology.
Jane met her husband Donald on a blind date that neither wanted to go on, but thankfully they did
because they spent a wonderful life together and had recently celebrated their 68th Wedding
Anniversary on December 1st, holding hands from two separate hospital beds in their living room.
Jane was a very dedicated mother and wife, she was always nurturing and always caring for others.
She worked in the operating room at Frisbie Hospital until opening her own business in the family
home where she owned and operated Indigo Hill Kindergarten from 1968-1980, often with 30-35
students and one assistant.
After closing the kindergarten, Jane then went to work for Dr James Young (Dentist) as his assistant
and office manager. Jane was also caregiver over the years for both her mother and father in law, as well as her mother and father as illness became long term.
Once Jane and Donald made FL their permanent residence, she continued to maintained her Nurses
License for decades and she was always assisting neighbors and friends with health concerns.
Even while working full time and owning and operating the kindergarten, she always made time for her
family's school and sporting events.
Jane was a 4-H leader, a Cub Scout leader, a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.
While raising a family, the summers involved a lot of camping, and while Donald commuted for many
years, from a seasonal camp lot in Cornish ME, to work each day, Jane would stay at camp with her
children and was always organizing gatherings and events for children and families. Jane was once a
lifeguard and taught many children and adults how to swim.
Jane had a very strong work ethic and took pride in everything she did. She nurtured many young
minds and taught hundreds of children to read and write and prepared them for first grade.
During Jane and Donald's 68 years of marriage they loved to travel, going to places such as Paris,
Greece, London, just to name a few. They also enjoyed traveling in their motor home, which once was
a six month trip all over the US even to Alaska and many Canadian Provinces. They were members of
Family Motor Coach and even created a motor home club in the community of Briny Breezes. They
also spent many years square dancing and traveling to conventions.
Jane was an active member of the Lioness's Club, and in her FL community she was a member of the
Boating and Fishing Club, the Hobby Club, the History Club, Bingo Committee and worked on a
Community Charity Bizarre. Jane also volunteered at a FL hospital as well as made hundreds of
newborn hats and blankets for the hospital maternity ward.
Jane never tired of giving of her time and efforts to help others and her smile would light up a room.
She was always generous and forgiving, always profession and always had a kind heart.
When Jane would ever try to tell a joke though, she would laugh so hard that we would all laugh too,
but we didn't even know why because she couldn't get to the punchline.
A Registered Nurse, business owner, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she lived life
to the fullest. We were all so fortunate to share this life with her.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, and her husband Donald.
She is survived by her children, Mark (Tracey) Hebert and Ann Marie Hebert, grandchildren Ellen
Hebert, Stephanie Hebert and Steven (Amber) Hebert and great-grandchildren Liam and Adeline
Hebert. She is also survived by her sister Barbara D'Errico and brother Dr Richard Nadeau, and many
nieces and nephews.
