MONROE, Conn. - Janet Benson (Gagné), 79, of Monroe, died peacefully on May 16, 2021 surrounded by family. Janet Benson was born on August 15, 1941 in Richmond, Maine, and was raised by her paternal grandparents in Dover.
She was the loving wife of the late Ronald Benson whom she married on June 26, 1964. Janet attended The University of New Hampshire receiving a Master of Education in Counseling.
Janet served as a beloved teacher of French, Math and Religion at Dover Catholic School for many years before serving as a counselor at McClelland Elementary School in Rochester as well as Somersworth High School and St. Elizabeth Seton School.
She is survived by her brother John Gagné of Tampa Fla., daughters Deedra Benson of Dover, Christine Yost of Brattleboro, Vt., Lya Schulz of Monroe and Nichole Jimenez of Virginia Beach Va, and nine grandchildren.
