MILTON - Jay R. Thyng, 64, of Milton, died on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at his home in Milton. Born in Dover on July 9, 1953; the son of Herbert Sr. and Hilda (Barnard) Thyng. Jay was raised in Dover, moved to Somersworth and finally resided in Milton for the past 32 years.
Jay retired from Moore Business Forms after 29 years in 2001 as a CNC Machine Operator and avid instigator. Through the years he also drove a school bus for the Dover and Milton School Districts. Jay was a former Knights of Columbus member in Dover, a Cub Scout and Boy Scout Leader for Milton as well as a Little League coach. During his retirement Jay enjoyed woodworking and selling his crafts at the Wakefield Marketplace every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., from Memorial Day weekend until Columbus Day. When he was not doing his woodworking, he enjoyed spending time with his Grandkids and charging them a "Grandpa Tax" while the ate their snacks. Jay enjoyed watching sports with his wife, he may have controlled the remote control but her beloved New England sports teams controlled the television. Jay was fondly referred to as "Big Guy" upon his visits to Dr. Dan's office.
Members of his family include his saint of a wife for 42 years, Irene (Roy) of Milton; two sons, Jayson R. Thyng and his wife, Tricia of Fremont, and Jayme Thyng of Milton; two grandchildren, Kaylee and Jared Thyng; three sisters, Donna (Thomas) Lavoie of Raymond, Miss., Beverly Robins of Fountain, Fla., and Jo Alyce (Andrew) Martell of Port Charlotte, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews of whom he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers Roger Thyng and Herbert Thyng Jr; two brother in law's Raymond Roy Sr., and Andrew Lafountain.
