SOMERSWORTH - John James "Jack" Ryan, 79, of Somersworth, formerly of Potomac, Md., and Hilton Head Island, S.C., died on Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born in Rochester, N.Y. and moved to Hartselle, Ala., as a teenager.
The son of the late John William and Esther Bunting Ryan, he graduated from St. Bernard Preparatory School in Cullman, Ala., and received his BA from the University of Alabama.
He was a sales manager at several high-tech computer companies around the Washington, DC area. A member of Congressional Country Club, he was an avid golfer and tennis player. One of his many talents included photography and his pictures of landscapes and animals grace the home walls of friends and family. Jack always had a warm smile, a sparkle in his eye and a sincere compliment for everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jane Taylor Ryan; his daughter, Carolyn Decker, and son-in-law, Eric Decker, of Dover, his son, John Ryan, Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren: Kayla Ryan, James Decker, Ted Decker; his sister, Sister Veronica (Suzanne) Ryan of Cullman; and many extended family members and friends.
