John 'Jack' Wallace ... enjoyed boating

ROCHESTER - John "Jack" Wallace, 93, of Salmon Falls Road, died Friday, June 13, 2014 at his home.

Born in Dover February 16, 1921 the son of John and Eunice (Tibbetts) Wallace, he was a 1940 graduate of Dover High School. A former resident of Dover he was a longtime resident of Durham, then moved to Manchester prior to coming to Rochester several years ago.

He was a Army Veteran of World War II where he was a first sergeant in the 393rd Infantry 99th Division and took part in the invasion of Omaha Beach on D-Day. Upon returning from the war he was employed with the M.J. Murphy Co. until he started his own contracting business, Jack Wallace and Son Contractors.

Jack enjoyed spending time on his boat on the ocean and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed watching the History channel.

He was predeceased by his wife Rose (Athearn) Wallace in 1984 and his second wife Mildred (Stevens) Carr-Wallace who died in 2005.

He is survived by his son John "Jack" Wallace, Jr. and his daughter Sheila Wallace both of Rochester, two granddaughters Sheena Wallace and Brittany Wallace both of Manchester, and his sister Ethel Mitchell of Dover. He also leaves his step-children Kathy Psirogianis, of Cohasset, Mass., Beth (Bill) Davis of Plymouth, Mass., Maureen Zucker, Peter (Stacey) Carr and Daniel (Kim) Carr and their families, all of Scituate, Mass., and nieces and nephews.
