DOVER - John Sirviris, 94, died peacefully surrounded by family on April 3, 2024, after a long and healthy life. Born in Dover on Dec. 8, 1929, he was the son of James and Mary (Lapis) Sirviris. John graduated from Somersworth High School in 1948, where he earned letters in basketball, football and baseball. He continued to enjoy sports throughout his life.

John was a loving husband to Nancy (Fortier) Sirviris. Together, they raised three daughters in Somersworth. He was an active participant in all of their activities and was always ready with a smile and a hug for family and friends.

John traveled many career paths throughout the years, including training at General Electric in Somersworth, owning a general store in Milton, and managing John's Grill in Rochester. In 1958, he began working at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and retired in 1988, after 29 years of service.

John was a fan of local sporting events, he officiated high school football around the state for many years, and served as a softball umpire as well. He took up golf later in life and spent many happy days playing with his foursome in the wee morning hours.

John leaves behind his daughter Mary Beth (Jim) Turcotte of Saco, Maine, Susan Sirviris of Dover, and Ann (Robert) Simeone of Groton, Mass. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Sophia Simeone of Waltham, Mass., and Joseph Simeone of Medford, Mass. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, and his brother, Timothy Sirviris.
