DOVER - A Rochester man indicted in a May 2015 robbery was found not guilty last week by a jury that deliberated just a couple of hours before rendering its verdict.

Edward Davis, 57, of 46 South Main St., Apt. 303, had been accused of using physical force on a victim, who along with an eyewitness testified at trial. The robbery indictment was handed down last September.

Court records had indicated Davis "put (the victim) in fear of immediate use of physical force, to wit, he grabbed money from (the victim) while stating he would punch him in the face if he did not let go."

"Both the victim and an eyewitness testified, but I guess it wasn't enough," said Assistant County Attorney Emily Conant, who prosecuted the case.

Davis still faces a duty to inform bench trial next month for allegedly failing to report as a sex offender several times.
