ROCHESTER - Katherine "Kay" Bagley Koopman, 95, of 5 Ladyslipper Court, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 in Rochester. Born August 1, 1922 in Quechee, Vt., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Florinda Bagley.
She went to Quechee School, then Hartford High School and Concord School of Nursing.
She was an emergency room registered nurse at Frisbie Memorial Hospital for many years and she worked and taught CNAs at the Rochester Manor until her retirement. She also worked beside her husband at their A&W Root Beer Stand in Rochester for many years.
Her love for her family and grandchildren were undeniable. Kay enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, canning and making raspberry jam. At 95, she was still feeding the birds and squirrels and growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. She loved shelling in Sanibel and making Christmas ornaments with these shells. She made friends wherever she went and always had time for a hug. She loved family time, big gatherings at the lake and visiting her sisters Patty and Nellie Bagley in Quechee.
Kay was an amazing lady who loved life and will be greatly missed by her family and many people who knew her and loved her.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert B. Koopman; daughter, Maureen K. Polichnowski; son-in-law, Richard P. Marsh and granddaughter, Lindsey P. Gilbert.
She is survived by daughters, Barbara K. Marsh and Karol A. Ware; son, Robert B. Koopman; son-in-law Stanley Polichnowski; grandchildren, Christopher Marsh, Jennifer Marsh, David Ware, Aaron Polichnowski, Alison Thurmon, Benjamin Polichnowski, Katherine Koopman, Kristen Koopman and Kara Koopman; great-grandchildren, Morgyn Ware, Henry Polichnowski, Max Polichnowski, Emma Thurmon, Maya Thurmon, Nora Thurmon, Ava Gilbert, Hanna Gilbert and great-great grandson Coby Abrams.
