ROCHESTER - A Lebanon man declared a habitual offender in 2001 faces felony charges today after his arrest on Monday for driving without a license.

The incident unfolded when a Rochester Police Officer noticed that a car operated by William L. Eldredge, 44, of 707 Upper Guinea Road, didn't have a valid state inspection sticker.

When he failed to produce a license, police learned he was driving illegally given his status as a habitual offender, which is declared after three serious motor vehicle violations, Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said today.

Also arrested at the scene was Eldredge's passenger, Angela Eldredge, 44, who was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear out of Rochester Circuit Court, Thomas added.

A charge of habitual offender can result in up to seven years in state prison.
