A Lebanon man has been indicted in the armed robbery of a 7-Eleven store in Springvale.

Benjamin M. LaPanne, 31, of 56 Furbush Lane is charged with the Feb. 5 convenience store holdup, a Class A felony. He was indicted by a York County grand jury earlier this month.

LaPanne was arrested on April 4 by Sanford Police after a lengthy investigation, said Sanford Police Det. Chad Allen.

Allen said on the night of the holdup LaPanne is alleged to have entered the store around 10 p.m., approached the clerk and displayed a firearm while demanding money before fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

LaPanne is said to have been wearing a GI military mask on the night of the robbery, but Allen said police got information on his physical description and clothing nonetheless, plus there was surveillance tape as well.

LaPanne remains held at the York County Jail in Alfred on $75,000 cash bail.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has found there is enough evidence to move forward with a trial.
