LEBANON, Maine - A Lebanon man was seriously injured on Tuesday when his truck burst into flame after crashing into a tree on Kennebec Drive spawning a small brush fire.

Lebanon Fire and EMS responded to the area of 39 Kennebec Drive around 4:05 p.m. and found the truck ablaze and a small brush fire working up a hill toward a neighborhood residence, Lebanon Fire and EMS Chief Steven Merrill said today.

Mutual aid was called and Rochester, N.H., responded with a tanker and Milton, N.H., with a crew and engine

The driver sustained serious injuries in the crash and was transported by Lebanon ambulance to Skyhaven Airport in Rochester where he was Medflighted to Maine Medical Center in Portland by Lifeflight of Maine.

Meanwhile, the 50 by 50 foot brush fire was quelled using the Rochester tanker. Merrill said Lebanon's tanker could've been used but Rochester's was able to be dispatched more quickly due to available manpower.

The Dodge Dakota truck involved in the crash sustained heavy damage.

Several Maine State Police Troopers were on hand for the incident and investigation, but were not immediately available for comment this morning.
