MILTON - Leo Everett Lessard, 67, of Milton, died Wednesday, October 18, 2017, peacefully at home with his loving family.
Born May 1, 1950, in Rochester, son of Norman and Beatrice (Wyman) Lessard, he was raised in Milton, a graduate of Nute High School, Class of 1969. He received his bachelor degree from the School of Lifelong Learning at UNH. He resided in Dover for 15 years and moved back home to Milton 25 years ago.
Leo currently served as County Commissioner for Strafford County, following more than two decades as the county Registrar of Deeds. He served in the New Hampshire State Legislature, including as the Senate's Democratic leader. He was very active in Milton, including serving as a Town Selectman.
He loved history, especially the Civil War, antiques to remind him of his childhood, and boating on Milton three Ponds with his dog and first mate, Chloe.
Survived by his loving wife and best friend, Elizabeth E. (Riesenberg) Lessard; his mother, Beatrice Laskey; two sons, Michael Lessard, Jon and wife Tiffany Lessard; a stepson Logan Ramsey; and with Elizabeth, he also welcomed her three daughters to be his own: Katie Black and husband Ryan, Megan Black and Amanda Black; brother, Norman and wife Brenda Lessard; a sister, Linda and husband Chris Winters; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

SERVICES: A Memorial Service will be held at Nute Middle/High School, 22 Elm St., Milton, on Saturday, October 21, from 3-5 p.m.
