ROCHESTER - Leonard A. "Pete" Ramsey, formerly of Rochester, New Hampshire, passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in Port Orange, Fla. Pete, born in Gonic on January 14, 1931, was the son of Alphonse and Helena (LeBrun) Ramsey.
He leaves his beloved wife, Thelma (Mailhot) Ramsey, of 67 years; his children, Gloria (Michael) Luttrell of Summerfield, Fla, Paul (Nancy) Ramsey of Farmington, daughter-in-law Sharon (Quintal) Ramsey of Rochester, Susan (David) Ekola, of Rochester, daughter-in-law Carissa (Colbroth) Ramsey of Middleton, and Louise (Bernard) Sandrowicz of Port Orange, Fla.; as well as his 10 loving grandchildren, 11 precious great-grandsons and several nephews and nieces.
Pete was predeceased by his parents, three sisters and brother along with his two cherished sons, Donald Ramsey having passed in 2013 and Lawrence Ramsey having passed in 2004.
Always hard working, Pete was the epitome of the term a "self-made-man". He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he was a master plumber and was most recognized for his construction of homes and the introduction of apartment living in the Rochester area having built, owned and managed Gaslight Terrace, Colonnade Apartments and Ramsey Apartments. After retiring in 1976, Pete and Thelma later moved to Port Orange, where they have made their home for the past 32 years.

Pete and Thelma were very active and adventurous whether journeying cross country or boarding cruise ships. They enthusiastically loved traveling and just being together. An avid woodworker, he was never idle and could always be found in his workshop crafting woodcarvings for family and friends. Pete was devoted to his faith and was actively involved with the Catholic Church of the Epiphany where he served as a Eucharistic minister and minister to the sick. He enjoyed his family and was never happier than when he was amongst his children, grandchildren and great-grandsons. He will be greatly missed.
