SANBORNVILLE, N.H. - A live auction that last year brought several heirloom furniture and sports memorabilia items to the floor and raised thousands of dollars is one of the highlights of this year's annual Calico Fair fund-raiser sponsored by St. John the Baptist church of Sanbornville.

The fair will take place on Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church located at 118 High St. just up the hill from downtown Sanbornville.

Other featured attractions include the church's thrift store, bake goods and bling tables, along with the fair's expansive yard sale.

Butterfingers Da Klown as always will also be on hand for face painting and balloon animals.

Scrumptious food selections will include hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage subs, root beer floats and strawberry shortcake.

Auction items can be previewed at 9 a.m., with the live auction beginning at 10 a.m.

The Calico Fair is the church's largest and most important fund-raiser of the year, this year being even more important as the church had to undergo a major renovation after a large chunk of plaster and wood fell (luckily no one was in the church at the time) from the ceiling.

Additionally new heating systems had to be purchased and installed in both the church and one of its parish meeting houses.
