Children's Room Programs

Scavenger Hunt: The RPL Children's Room February Vacation Scavenger Hunt was a huge success! Families walked throughout the downtown area where they were challenged with solving riddles to find businesses or city buildings that hosted book character silhouettes. Most families were able to locate and identify all the characters in about an hour. After completing the no contact program, all participants were entered for more than $150 in randomly drawn prizes.

According to Children's Room Librarian, Christina Paquette, "The children were excited to report back about which characters were difficult to find while several parents were pleased that the warm weather allowed them to wander around downtown and discover businesses they didn't know were there, or to see what they sell in the stores."

The Children's Room would like to thank the downtown businesses and city departments who hosted characters and donated prizes. Many thanks to the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, Rochester Fire Dept., Bernier Insurance Agency, Tri-City Bicycles, Town Square Barber, Jet Pack Comics & Games, Hervey's Tire Company, Rochester Police Dept., Fallen Leaf Bistro, Collec-tiques, Sweet Peach's Candy & Confections, Riverstones Custom Framing, Postal Center USA, First Seacoast Bank & Rochester City Hall.
