ROCHESTER - Loretta J. Berry, 79, died peacefully at her home in Rochester, surrounded by loving family on Saturday, March 3, 2018. From her birth in Rochester on September 2, 1938 to her death on Saturday, she nourished people around her with love, faith, and music.
She was born to Julian Forcier and Therese (Lemire) Forcier and was blessed with three brothers. Loretta was a graduate of Holy Rosary Catholic School, class of 1956. Loretta met the love of her life, Donald Berry, and they were married in May of 1959. Together they raised four children.
Loretta was a self-employed beautician for 55 years in Rochester. She had a passion for music throughout her life, from singing on the steps of her childhood home, sharing her talent in the Folk Group at her lifelong parish, to singing in the Clementines Barbershop Chorus. Loretta also instilled a love of music in her children and grandchildren.
She will be remembered every holiday with special traditions, especially at Christmas; cookie making with her grandchildren was the highlight of her Christmas celebration. Loretta enjoyed vacations with family in Canada and traveling around the world, including many cruises to tropical locations. She was active in many local groups including the Red Hat Society, Dover Senior Center, the Mother Angeline Ministry and St. Anne Sodality of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish. Her bright smile and infectious laugh will be missed by all who loved her.
Loretta is predeceased by her husband, Donald; two brothers, Florian and Robert; and her grandson, Ryan. Left to honor Loretta and remember her love are her four children, Alan Berry, Donna and Stephen Wood, Maureen and Tod Pepin, and Steven and Elizabeth Berry; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; her brother, Jean Paul Forcier; sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
