Maine man accused in Lincolnville death; arraignment set for today

LINCOLNVILLE, Maine - A Lincolnville man is expected to be arraigned today in the Friday death of a local resident.

Police first got involved in the case on Friday around 9:40 a.m. when the Waldo County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from 54 Thorndike Road in Lincolnville for an unresponsive male. Sheriff Deputies responded and found 47-year-old Kevin Curit of Lincolnville deceased.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit responded with detectives and evidence technicians working throughout the day and into the early morning hours of Saturday conducting interviews and processing the scene. An autopsy was conducted at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta on Saturday morning. As a result of the autopsy, the death was ruled a homicide, a police spokesman said on Saturday. The cause of death is being withheld at this time as requested by the Attorney General's Office. On Saturday evening State Police Detectives arrested 47-year-old Matthew Pendleton of Lincolnville and charged him with murder. Pendleton was transported to the Waldo County Jail where he is being held without bail pending his arraignment today in Waldo Superior Court.
