Maine man arrested in area catalytic converter thefts

SANFORD, Maine - Sanford Police arrested a West Newfield man on Wednesday in the thefts of catalytic converters both in Sanford and Wells.

Kyle C. Blay, 31, stands charged with theft by unauthorized taking, a class C crime punishable by up to five years in prison.

In their investigation leading up to the arrest Sanford detectives investigated information received from catalytic convertor thefts within Sanford and corroborated those reports with information provided from Wells Police.

Blay is currently being held at the York County Jail without bail. His bail for the warrant is set at $10,000.

Additional charges are expected, police indicated.

No other information about the arrest was immediately released.
