NORWAY, Maine - A Maine man was charged on Friday in the killing of his wife.

Norway police got involved around noon on Friday when they received a disturbance complaint from a third party reporting that 61-year-old Andrew St. George of Norway may have killed his wife, 60-year-old Barbara St. George at their property on Greenwood Road.

Officers responded to the property and located a deceased female in the driveway and later found Andrew St. George on the property with superficial injuries, according to a statement released on Saturday by Maine Dept. of Safety Public Information Officer Shannon Moss..

Andrew St. George was taken to Stephens Memorial Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. Barbara St. George's body was transported to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. Andrew St. George was interviewed by State Police Detectives and later arrested and charged with the murder of his wife.

An autopsy conducted on Saturday confirmed that Barbara St. George's death was a homicide. The cause of death is not being released at this time.

Andrew St. George is being held without bail at the Oxford County Jail and will make an initial appearance in Oxford Superior Court early next week.
