CONCORD - Police arrested a motorist on Sunday who was reportedly hanging outside his vehicle while speeding and driving the wrong way on the F.E. Everett Turnpike.

Initial 911 calls began coming in around 11:35 p.m., with motorists saying they'd seen a vehicle that was traveling north in the southbound lanes of the F.E. Everett Turnpike in the area of Exit 10 in Merrimack.

While Troopers responded to the area, additional callers reported that the vehicle in question had made a U-Turn and was now traveling south in the southbound lanes. It was also reported that the driver was driving with the door open, and that he was hanging outside the vehicle.

With the assistance of incoming calls from concerned citizens, police were able to locate the vehicle in the area just south of Exit 6 in Nashua where Troopers also observed the operator hanging out of the open door.

Upon arrest, the driver was identified as Christopher Robinson, 41, of Salem, Mass.

He was charged with suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and with a suspended license. Further charges may be forthcoming.

Anyone who may have witnessed this event is asked to contact Trooper Henry Gula at 603-223-4381 or Henry.F.Gula@dos.nh.gov
