Man arrested in Seabrook fatal shooting; self-defense eyed as possible factor

CONCORD - A man has been charged in a Seabrook shooting that left one man dead and another critically wounded on Monday.

Police today said they arrested Garrito Fort, 37, no hometown listed, on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

They also said their investigation was progressing including the potential claim of self defense.

Seabrook Police got involved on Monday around 9:05 a.m. after getting a 911 call directing them to 19 Boynton Lane for a reported shooting.

On arrival, officers discovered one adult male deceased in the driveway outside the home and a second adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. A third male individual, Fort, was reported to have run away from the front of the residence but was later apprehended. He will be arraigned via a WebEx hearing in Rockingham Superior Court today at 1 p.m.

The identity of the deceased male will not be released until all family members have been contacted. The second individual shot is currently in critical condition receiving treatment at an area hospital, police said.

An autopsy on the deceased is set for later today.
