DOVER - A Rochester man awaiting trial in a brutal sex assault was arraigned on Thursday on additional charges of violating a protective order for calling the victim numerous times from jail.

Adam Joseph Brill, 39, of 9F Eastern Ave., is alleged to have called the victim, identified as an intimate partner at the time of the attack, many times, according to Assistant County Attorney Emily Conant, who said those calls were the basis of the new charges.

Brill was indicted on felony counts of attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault and second degree assault as well as several misdemeanor charges in connection with the alleged May 2 attack in Rochester.

The felonies alleged Brill strangled the victim "by applying pressure to her throat" and attempted fellatio upon her, while the misdemeanor charges represent that he "rubbed his penis on her face," "grabbed her ears" and "grabbed her groin" either without her consent or by physical force.

If convicted on both felony counts Brill could face up to 27 years in state prison, while each of the 10 felonies listed carry one-year jail terms apiece.

The next court date on the violation of protective order charges were not immediately available, but Brill's jury trial on the more serious charges stemming from the alleged May attack is set for February.

A booking officer at Strafford County Jail said today that Brill's bail is set at $25,000 cash while awaiting trial.
