DOVER, N.H. - A South Lebanon man charged with drunken driving after crashing into a utility pole in Rochester has been indicted for felony evidence tampering that could land him in a New Hampshire prison for up to seven years.
Rene Drapeau, 49, of 46 Bigelow Road, was arrested for DWI on Nov. 18 after he crashed his 1992 Buick Lesabre into the pole in the area of 244 Pickering Road in Gonic.
The indictment alleges that Drapeau, believing an investigation was imminent, removed a can of dust cleaner from his car in order to impair the probe.
The Class B felony carries a 3½-7 prison sentence and a $4,000 fine.
The February indictments were handed down a week ago and released on Tuesday.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been shown to warrant a trial.
