Man involved in shooting incident with deputy charged with reckless conduct

TUFTONBORO - A shooting in Tuftonboro on Tuesday led to a police standoff and arrest of a Concord man identified on Thursday as 20-year-old Ezra Birette.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in the area of Canaan Road when a Carroll County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motor vehicle operated by Birette who was known to the deputy.
No one was struck or injured, and the male subject ultimately fled into an adjacent dwelling where he remained until he was taken into custody by law enforcement, according to a Troop E press release sent Tuesday night.
Burdette was charged with reckless conduct and released on personal recognizance bail pending his arraignment at Merrimack Superior Court on Sept. 15.
Police released no additional information on what led to the discharge of the firearm.
