ROCHESTER - Mary A. Spear, 90, of 12 Cecile Court and former longtime resident of Salmon Falls Road, died on Sunday, June, 23, 2019, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. She died peacefully with family members by her side.
Anna, as she was known by all who knew her, was born April 17, 1929 in Rollinsford, to Joseph and Phoebe (Lepage) Poirier. Anna resided in Rochester for most of her life, and was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church of Rochester where she served many years as a member of the choir. Throughout her life, she worked at the General Electric Company, First National Food Stores and Rich's Department Stores.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles, organizing and planning family gatherings, socializing with friends and remained physically active throughout her later years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as "Mimi" and brought great joy to her life. Anna was quite independent throughout her life, especially after her beloved husband of 56 years, John E. Spear, passed in 2008.
