SOMERSWORTH - Mary Semitros, 93, died at Wentworth Douglass Hospital on May 30, 2021.
She was born in Somersworth to her parents Yerasimos and Nicoletta Semitros on March 4, 1928.
Mary enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, puzzles, reading novels, going for walks, and taking care of her beloved pets.
In 1946 she graduated from Somersworth High School.
Mary was employed with Brackett and Shaw, Company till 1953 and went on to work in the Purchasing Department at UNH until 1958. She then became a secretary to Mr. Donald Richards at the Alumni House when he was the Alumni Executive. She was then promoted in 1961 to Supervisor of Alumni Records and went on as the Alumni/Development Research Coordinator. She received in 1979 the Alumni Association's Profile of Service Award for 18 years of outstanding work as recorder. Mary then retired after thirty-eight years of service to the UNH Office on June 30, 1991. Mary will be remembered for her friendly and caring manner as well as her meticulous attention to the details of record management.
Mary volunteered her services at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for 30 years. She served on the board of directors for the Greek Cemetery Corporation and was a dedicated member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church located in Somersworth.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Yerasimos and Nicoletta, sister Celopie (Callie), brother Nicholas (Nick), sister Vasiliki (Vicki).
