Mass. man arrested after high-speed chase

KITTERY, Maine - A Massachusetts man was arrested on Saturday night after police say he led them on a high-speed chase along Route 95 north and into Kittery, Maine.

The chase began after a New Hampshire State Police Trooper stopped the vehicle for an illegal lane change on the interstate in North Hampton.

According to reports, the suspect stopped the vehicle in a travel lane, waited until the trooper got out his cruiser and then took off at a high speed.

The trooper chased the suspect onto the Route 1 bypass north, but terminated the pursuit at the Maine state line, according to a State Police press release.

Sometime after the trooper terminated the pursuit, Kittery Police located the vehicle abandoned behind a truck stop.

Kittery Police and Maine State Police requested additional assistance from New Hampshire State Police to conduct a search of the area, and a short time a female subject was found hiding behind a Dumpster in the area of the abandoned vehicle.

Around 11 p.m. a male subject was found at a nearby hotel.

Darman Rosario, 28, of Lawrence, Mass., was located and taken into custody in the lobby of the Ramada Inn in Kittery and was charged with being a fugitive from justice. He is being held at the York County Jail.

The female was released.
