Mass. woman killed, Sanford man injured in Lyman crash

LYMAN, Maine - A Massachusetts woman was killed and a Sanford man injured when the motorcycle they were riding crashed in Lyman on Saturday.

Anne Stout, 50, of Maynard, Mass., was the passenger on the back of the motorcycle being driven by Gerald Gibson, 51, of Sanford.

According to a Maine Department of Safety spokesperson, the motorcycle was traveling north on Old Berwick Road around 11:30 am Saturday when it drifted onto the soft shoulder and left the roadway crashing into a small ditch.

Stout was ejected from the motorcycle and died as a result of her injuries. Gibson was transported to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries.

Both Stout and Gibson were not wearing helmets.

Old North Berwick Road was shut down for approximately 2.5 hours is now open.
