ROCHESTER - Maurice B. Hobbs, Jr., "Tubby", 69, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at home after a short illness. He was born May 25, 1947 in Rochester, the son of the late Maurice B. Sr. and Dorothy (Boucher) Hobbs.
He was a lifelong resident of Rochester graduating from Spaulding High School, Class of 1965. Tubby served in the Army during the Vietnam era then worked for Signal Auto Supply for 12 years. He then worked at Pratt Whitney as a supervisor for 34 years. He also was a part time policeman and call fireman for the City of Rochester.
Tubby was a member of the American Legion Post #7 of Rochester. He enjoyed woodworking, horseshoes, and was an avid NASCAR and New England sports fan. Tubby had a passion for riding in his Model T car and spending time in his garage but especially enjoyed spending time and having cookouts with family and friends. His mud truck and going to rallies was a big part of his life.
Members of his family include his wife of 46 years, Kay (Hussey) Hobbs; sons, Maurice B. "Mo" Hobbs, III and wife Michelle; Daniel G. Hobbs and fiancée, Tina Bartlett; daughter, Karey B. Hobbs and fiancé Jason Brooks; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Kody, Zachary, Joshua, Elizabeth, Kamdyn, and Kayleigh ,on the way; brother, George W. Hobbs and wife Angela; sisters, Sandra Hussey and husband Daniel, Patricia LaVarnway and husband Dennis; brother-in-law Stephen Cliché ;several nieces, nephews and many close friends he considered family and children of his own; his dog, Aspen. He was predeceased by sister, Diane Cliché.
