Mayday puts out the word: He wants a new home

Mayday came to CVHS due to no fault of his own as his owner unfortunately, passed. Mayday is very nervous here at the shelter as he is having a tough time coping with the recent dramatic changes in his life. He will need a patient and understanding owner who can devote extra time to helping him adjust to his new surroundings. Mayday can be timid when first meeting new people, so he should be approached slowly and calmly by prospective owners. Mayday is a strong pup who likes to play rough! For this reason, he can only go home with teenagers (16+) though he'd be happiest in a home with only adults. Mayday cannot share his home with another dog as they make him very anxious. Mayday has lived with cats in the past and peacefully co-existed with them but we recommend that Mayday only share his home with a dog-savvy cat. Mayday isn't particularly playful here because he seems more concerned with being cuddled! When he does play, he likes squeaky toys and he loves to retrieve objects! Mayday is akin to a kangaroo - he LOVES to jump and bounce around when he's excited. This is a behavior that his potential owner may want to work on with him. Mayday is a well-mannered boy who knows some basic commands but will need help channeling his excitement and energy into a more constructive manner. Mayday would be an excellent on-leash hiking partner or running buddy. He would also be happiest with an owner who has lots of extra time to spend with him (think retired or working from home!)
