Milton officer hurt in foot chase; suspect arrested

MILTON - A Milton Police officer was injured during a foot chase after they came in contact with a man walking along the Spaulding Turnpike Saturday, sparking a wide dragnet on the subject who initially got away.

Steven Grubisa, age 25, of Wolfeboro, N.H., ultimately surrendered in Wakefield after talking by cellphone with an Ossipee Officer.

Grubisa was charged with felony resisting arrest or detention and two warrants from other agencies.

The incident began when the unnamed Milton officer saw a man who was later identified as Grubisa around 5 p.m. walking on the limited access portion of the Spaulding Turnpike, just North of Exit 17.

The officer made contact with the Grubisa but while attempting to search him for weapons he fled on foot. The officer gave chase but was injured during the foot pursuit.

Milton Police then alerted other agencies including Wakefield Police, State Police, Farmington Police, Middleton Police, New Durham Police, Carroll County Sherriff, Effingham Police and Rochester Police as a dragnet ensued.

After an extensive search in various locations, Grubisa surrendered to police in Wakefield.

The Milton officer suffered a broken arm and was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital. No further word on their condition was immediately available.

Grubisa will be arraigned on the charges on Monday at Rochester District Court.
