MILTON - A visible police presence was on hand at Nute High School and Library today after a student was arrested following a lockdown at the school Tuesday.

Police say Guerdon Zerbinopoulos, 18, of Milton entered the school and caused a disturbance.

Zerbinopoulos, who had previously dropped out of school at Nute, gained entry to the office to speak with administrators, but then refused to leave, Nute High School and Library Principal Jan Radowicz said today.

After administrators insisted he finally left, with no specific threats against the school or individual students reported.

After Zerbinopoulos left the building, he got into his car and was driving around the back parking lot when Milton Police arrived and took him into custody.

The lockdown occurred around 1 p.m. and Zerbinpoulos was arrested just a few minutes later.

According to a report on WMUR, Milton Police said he "ran out of the building after a student and was locked out. He proceeded to hit the outside of the building with his hands and feet, then got in his car, revved the engine and drove toward the building's pillars but did not strike them."

Zerbinopoulos was charged with criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct. Police are also investigating a possible threat from Zerbinopoulos against the school's principal.

That alleged threat was commented on extensively in Facebook posts.

Radowicz said an enhanced police presence would be on hand today in an effort to calm jittery students and parents.

It will only be a half-day session as a result of an approaching nor'easter.

Without commenting on Tuesday's incident, Radowicz said individuals are routinely granted access to the office if they are known to school personnel. She said she expected to advance an agenda item for the next School Board meeting on March 14 that may include Milton Police.

Meanwhile, Zerbinopoulos will be arraigned later this month in Rochester District Court.

Milton Police have assured the public there is no threat against the school at this time. Anyone with further information about this incident is asked to call Chief Richard Krauss at 603-652-4500.
