At Mooyah's, lettuce gets top billing on their low cal burger. (Rochester Voice photo)

ROCHESTER - Mooyah, located at 150 Marketplace Blvd. at The Ridge, puts out a pretty nice burger, but it's not always pretty.

We ordered the Low Cal burger, which is reasonably priced at $6.48, but were surprised when we saw it at the pick-up station fully ensconced in half a head of iceberg lettuce.

It just didn't look inviting.

Thankfully we were happy when we found it tasted better than it looked with the unmistakably savory flavor that only fresh, never frozen Certified Angus beef brings to the table.

We also liked the fact that while a slice of cheese might run you an extra buck, veggies like grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms or fried onion strips were all free. Add some of their Mooyah Sauce, a creamy thousand island variety, and you've got a party in your mouth the first bite.

Mooyah fries are among the best we've had, hand-cut and fresh every day.

There are no servers at Mooyah; after you make and pay for your order, they give you a little callbox that rings when food is ready for pickup at the counter. For us it was about 10 minutes wait time, tops.

Food is served on wax paper on a tray, which some might think a bit funky but we didn't mind once we started eating.

We found the staff extremely helpful and courteous when we made are order or asked for assistance.
